Lay Leda Lay 24" x 48"

A woman came into the Sorelle Gallery and wanted to commission a piece similar to the one in the Olde Bryan Inn in Saratoga. This was a large piece of Leda and the Swan, a story from Greek Mythology, where Zuess turned into a swan to seduce Leda. Both the Olde Bryan Inn and the painting are well known in Saratoga. We set up a meeting with the woman, but at the last minute she cancelled. In the meantime, I had done some research on the piece, and couldn't wait to paint it, so I considered painting it anyway. When a friend gave me an antique frame that would be perfect for it, I decided to do it. This piece will be part of my show next Thursday during the Victorian Streetwalk in Saratoga. I struggled to make her look a bit more serious - it's kind of a humorous subject, but I think in the end, it reflects the subject well, and has a kind of art deco look
